Evacuation Procedures

In the event of an emergency, an audible and/or visual flashing alarm will sound and/or flash. All individuals within the facilities should remain calm, provide assistance to those who may need it, and then immediately walk to the nearest exit. The facilities have clearly defined directional exit signs on each of the corridor doors and in the corridors to help you to reach the nearest exit.

Note: In order to minimize undue stress to rodent colonies, Research Animal Facility (RAF) - II has no audible alarms in the animal holding areas. Each room has a red emergency light which will begin to flash in the event of an emergency. These lights are located next to the door exiting the animal holding room. If these lights begin to flash, proceed to the nearest exit immediately.

RAF-I and II have emergency evacuation plan maps located in the main corridors. Please familiarize yourself with these maps prior to commencement of animal research projects. Once outside, proceed to the Department of Comparative Medicine's Emergency Assembly Point (EAP). This area is located at the top of the stairs overlooking the loading dock (see map below).
